Expert Tips to Score High
Mathematics is 40% of ECAT — master differentiation, integration, and analytic geometry. These alone can make or break your score.
Physics numericals are critical. ECAT tests applied physics — practice solving problems under time pressure.
No negative marking in ECAT — attempt all questions. Never leave blanks.
IQ/English (10%) is easy marks. Do logical reasoning puzzles daily for 15 minutes.
Aim for 80%+ in Mathematics to compensate if Chemistry/Physics is weaker.
UET Lahore uses aggregate formula: Matric 10% + FSc 40% + ECAT 50%. A high ECAT is essential.
FAQs
When is ECAT 2025?
UET ECAT is typically conducted in August. Registration opens in June–July. Check UET Lahore's official website for exact dates.
What is the minimum ECAT percentile for UET Lahore?
For the main UET Lahore campus, you typically need 70%+ in ECAT (280/400) for popular programs like Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
Is ECAT required for NUST?
NUST conducts its own NET (NUST Entry Test), but also accepts ECAT with specific conversion. NUST NET is strongly recommended over ECAT for NUST admissions.
Can I give both MDCAT and ECAT?
Yes, you can give both. MDCAT is for medical programs and ECAT is for engineering. Many FSc Pre-Engineering students also prepare for both.
How is ECAT score calculated?
Each correct answer gives 4 marks. There is no negative marking. Total = 400 marks. Your aggregate for UET = (Matric% × 0.10) + (FSc% × 0.40) + (ECAT% × 0.50).
